  Westside Middle School offers many Clubs for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade.

 

Club Opt Out Form

  • Purpose: Build and strengthen relationships through a mutual shared interest.
    Advisor: Cleveland / Roberts
    Activities: Watch anime shows, meet fellow fans, draw characters, and have fun! 

  • Purpose: Learn the disciplines of art while developing creative skills.
    Advisor: Authement / Watkins
    Activities: Draw and create art pieces with friends!

  • Purpose: Designed for students of all abilities to promote inclusion, understanding, and friendship.
    Advisor: Dotson / Bullock
    Activities: Students work together on shared interests while developing empathy, leadership, and social skills.

  • Purpose: To promote high academic achievement, character development, and community service among students. 
    Advisor: Bixler
    Activities: As a member, you will be part of a network that values scholarship, leadership, and service. Membership requires acceptance of invitation based on academic performance. 

  • Purpose: To learn the game of chess
    Advisor: Kinnaird/Neher
    Activities: Enjoy time with friends while playing chess.

  • Purpose: To build and strengthen relationships through a mutual love for comics.

    Activities: Read and talk about comics with friends!

  • Purpose: To develop in writing skills, express emotions, embrace creative ideas, and explore diverse writing styles.

    Activities: Participate in creative writing activities.

  • Purpose: To compete, connect, and have fun through gaming!
    Advisor: Skinner, R. Williams, and Lawrence
    Activities: Build teamwork and strategy while we practice and play popular esports titles together.

  • Purpose: To grow in faith.

    Activities: Gather and learn about Christ together. Dr. Stewart and Mrs. Barber facilite while Bethlehem Christian Church leads us in teaching. We can grow our faith together and pray.

  • Purpose: To learn about animals, plants, leadership, and the outdoors.

    Activities: Hands-on activities, learn about agriculture, and explore ways to grow as leaders! To participate in FFA, you must be enrolled in at least one agriculture class during the school year.

  • Purpose: To learn about a variety of important personal finance/money topics.
    Advisor: Hubbard
    Activities: Learn about cash flow, budgeting, savings, credit and debit cards, taxes, good vs bad debt, the importance of your credit score, setting financial goals, the FDIC, Fixed Income Investing, and a general overview of the stock market related to its gains vs. risks.

  • Purpose: To learn more about the teaching, coaching, or business leader careers.

    Activities: Learn more about careers and practice leadership skills. 

  • Purpose: To learn about graphic design.
    Activities: Students will use and learn different online resources to create unique and original works.

    Activities: Students prepare for the HRRB by reading and discussing books, writing practice questions, and memorizing facts.

  • Purpose : Students will learn about history.
    Activities: Each week we will dive into fun and interactive activities like trivia games, debates, creative projects, and guest speaker sessions.

  • Purpose: Students will learn knitting or crocheting skills.
    Activities: Students will bring their own knitting projects to work on during club days. This can be knitting or crocheting.

  • Purpose: To learn and celebrate cultures with our school and community.
    Activities: Crafts, music, dancing, food, and lots of fun!

  • Purpose: To learn about significant events and history happening in current time.
    Activities: Research current historical events.

  • Purpose: Strengthen and build friendships through the game of paper football.
    Activities: Compete with friends in paper football.

  • Purpose: Students will learn some beginning and basic techniques of piano.
    Activities: Play songs on the piano.

  • Purpose: To learn storytelling, interviewing, and podcast skills.
    Activities: Plan, write, record, and edit podcast episodes on different topics.

  • Purpose: To read and engage with in-depth textual evidence to deepen their understanding of poetic devices, structures, and themes.
    Activities: Read and write poetry.

  • Purpose: To participate in brain games that sharpen the mind.
    Activities: Crossword puzzles, logic games, escape room challenges, and more!

  • Purpose: To develop vocabulary, strategy, and spelling skills in a fun setting.
    Activities: Play scrabble and different board games.

  • Purpose: To promote creativity and scrapbooking. 
    Activities: Students will get creative and participate in scrapbooking.

  • Purpose: To learn the history, evolution of tactics, and legendary players of soccer.
    Activities: Students will participate in group activities and projects to understand the game of soccer.

  • Purpose: To bring excitment, energy, and community to Westside Middle.
    Activities: Students will participate in planning theme days, decorating for events, cheering on teams, and making school fun for everyone.

    Activities: Students will compete in fun trivia battles.

  • Purpose: To learn the rhythm, movement, and stomping to create beats and tell stories.

  • Purpose: To promote student leadership by providing opportunities for students to have a voice in school decisions and activities.
    Activities: Service projects, collaboration, leadership, school spirit, and community involvement.

    Activities: Students will participate in random academic and pop culture trivia!

    Activities: Students will play Uno during club meetings.
